Steampunk July Sale

New items in my etsy shop. July seems to be steampunk month!

40 Euro
I’m selling these to help raise money for university. I was accepted into a veterinary medicine course. Now I doubt I’ll raise enough money to cover tuition but a bit of extra money will definitely help me out. I also want to get rid of things that I won’t have room for, and I really don’t want to throw anything out.

Lady Loki: Walkthrough

The main reasons I made this costume:
1. I love Loki
2. There's a bunch of fabric that I needed to use up. Below is a picture o this green silk that I have. It's a bit stained, but I think that works for Lady Loki. I also had some whitish fur scraps and gold satin.

The first and simplest step was making the fur collar. i made a paper template and fiddled with it until it look right, then cut out the fur pieces and sewed them together. I made a mistake when cutting the fur by using a rotary cutter. It sliced through the hairs and now the back of the collar looks very choppy. I need to try evening it up.
Next came the bustier. This is a Burda style pattern. The lining is gabardine, and I used an old tablecloth to add structure to the bust. The bones are plastic. The outer layer is green silk.
For extra glamour, i added gold bias tape and laced the bustier closed with gold eyelets and cord. The fur collar is attached to the bustier with hooks and eyes. I forgot to take pictures, but there's also a loin cloth with this costume, also made of green silk and gold satin. I need to alter it so that it's adjustable.

Finally, the armour. I kept it simple: just a helm and bracers. The helm is foam, wire, cloth, paper mache, and a bit of polymer clay on the horns. There's a wire structure in the craft foam to help it fit my face. There's also wire and foam in the horns.
There's also wire in the bracers. I thought they would be able to hold their own shape, but I was worried that they would fall off. I added eyelets and ribbon to help hold them on.

This costume was also meant to include a cape, but I got lazy.

Another Star Wars skirt

Another Star Wars skirt. This one has an elastic waistband, and is very comfy.
The logo was painted on with acrylic paints: I think it turned out pretty good.

May the force be with you :)

Star Wars skirt

Hey, Nerf Herders, look what I found! Stars Wars pillow cases. For one euro each. Being a sucker for pillow cases, I bought them, and decided to turn them into skirts.
Pillow case skirts are very easy to make. You just use a seam ripper to open up the side seams, to create a big rectangle. Then you made a tube of fabric the same length as your pillowcase, sew that to the pillow case, sew up the side (leaving a gap in the waist band) and feed elastic through. I cheated a little and used stretchy material for the waist band.
I love this skirt. I even managed to add a little pocket in the side seam, made of umbrella material (yay recycling).
It was a little difficult to attach the waistband to the skirt. I had to stretch the waistband out as I sewed, so I had to go slowly.
Actually, does this skirt look better against gold or black?
This skirt is too big for me (it's an M/L), so I will be selling it, probably on Etsy or at Malta Comic Con in December.
There will be another skirt on the way soon.

Sy fy Alice dress: pleats

I added pleats to the back of the dress for more accuracy. They aren't entirely accurate, but since I've never added pleats to a dress like this, I'm still pleased with them.

The pieces are triangular, and inserted into slits that were cut into the back of the dress. The photo shows the dress after being hemmed. It's progressing very well: all it needs is the ric rac trim, some facing, and a zip.

BIG Etsy Shop Sale on Craft Supplies

End of summer clear out sale! I'm slowly clearing my room of various crafting supplies that otherwise won't get used. First up, a pair of peacock feathers These are cruelty free feathers, in great shape, and would make lovely decorations for the house (don't go believing evil eye superstition) or for accessories.
Next uppurple ariel shells . Two purple scallop shells, which would be great for a Little Mermaid costume. These have been painted purple, but you can easily paint over them in the colour of your choice. If you want to use the for a mermaid bikini, note that these would suit A-C bikini tops best.

For Sale: Babydoll and Silk Maiden

I need to raise money for tuition, so I am selling off some of my costumes.

If you don't stand for something, you'll fall for anything. -The Wise Man (Sucker Punch)

Beautiful, bold and brave: it's Sucker Punch's leading lady, Babydoll. This costume is a faithful replica of Babydoll's action outfit from the film 'Sucker Punch'. This costume will help you get into the character of katana-wielding, burlesque dancing Babydoll.

The costume is made of a soft navy cotton drill, with a sailor collar made of poly cotton. The collar is non-detachable. The pleated skirt fastens with buttons, and the top can simply be pulled over your head. The belt is not included.

The costume is perfect for Halloween, carnival or conventions.

Measurements:
Bust: 87cm
Waist: 84 cm (the waist of the top is not very fitted, and relies on a belt to shape it)
Hip (widest part of backside); 96 cm

You can also order a made to measure costume.
Price: 45 Euro + shipping

Alice Silk Maiden
Only a few find the way; some don't recognize it when they do; some don't ever want to. -The Cheshire Cat (Alice: Madness Returns)

Gorgeous dress inspired by the video game 'Alice: Madness Returns.'
The dress is kimono style, with a full skirt and puffed sleeves. It comes with a apron/belt (and a bow which can be added to the back).

The dress will fit sizes small to medium
Measurements:
