Cosplay throwback: Lady Gaga

When?
I made the American Flag bikini from Telephone in 2010; I think it was for Notte Bianca. I made the Red Leotard from an event in 2011 (JapanEase) - I wore the latter for a Joker/Harley "Bad Romance" skit (hence the cake: it was for Puddin' and Harley's anniversary - and a really convenient prop for all the backup dancers to hide behind before we made our appearance). These are two of my earliest costumes.

How?
American flag bikini: I chopped up red and blue t-shirts, painted on the stars and stripes with acrylic paint, and stamped the little stars on to a piece of blue cotton for the headband. The top is fastened with snaps. The wig is a cheap Halloween wig. I think I attempted to paint the star on my face with a silver lip gloss and black eye liner.
Red leotard: Made from an old red jersey dress. I made a leotard pattern - I think I traced around some shorts and a t-shirt. The cowl is just a rectangle of fabric sewn into a tube. The belt was black stretchy fabric and felt.
 Have they aged well?
Ehhh . . . the Stars and Stripes bikini hasn't. It's pretty ugly. I didn't even keep it-I think it got chopped up for another project. I think the Red Leotard was more successful: it fitted and looked pretty good.
 Would I remake it?
No. It was fun to wear these, but I don't have any particular desire to revisit Gaga.

Bust sewing machine and cowl question

I have succeeded in busting my sewing machine for the second time. Maybe twoel material just doesn't agree with it (that said, I sewed a whole robe made of towles without problems, so I'm not sure). I can borrow a machine luckily. Still need to fix the darn thing. MICA held another photoshoot at Sliema, near Tigne Point. I now have some stunning shots of my LAdy Gaga 'Wonder woman' Telephone costume. Looks cool. I'm not Lady gaga's biggest fan, though I like her style, but somehow I've been persuased to do a skit in Gaga costume: Harley Quinn/Joker's "Bad Romance", with a special guest appearance by Lady Gaga herself. Fun. And because I just LOVE making more work for myself, I'm going to make a new costume. I think she wore this or similar for the "Bad Romance" video. I found a brlliant tutorial here: http://www.instructables.com/id/Lady-Gaga-Body-Suits/#step1 I keep forgetting that with some costumes I don't need to buy a pattern: I can trace my clothing. Now all I need is a ton of lycra/jersey. And to figure out how to make that hood of hers: it looks like an infinity scarf sewed on to a big hood. I think the belt is just black elastic. Giselle and Gaga photos

My LAdy Gaga costume. Not very good quality photo but too bad. You can see some of my pictures in the background

Stop telephoning me

The Lady Gaga telephone costume is nearly done. The headband is (and has been for several days) complete, as are the shorts. The headband was ridiculously easy: just three tubes of fabric sewn togther and painted with acrylic paint. I particularily pleased with the shorts because I drafted the patterns for them myself using Patterns that fit you: Free shorts pattern and this ehow article . Ah, how I love the Internet. All that's left is the tube top and gloves.

Going Ga Ga

I've found a mini project to interrupt my Violet Baudelaire costume: a Lady Gaga costume. For Notte Bianca I will be wearing this

Luckily this v]costume is very simple. I already own a blue bikini, so the bikini top will need a little altering, then I'll applique on some stars and stripes to both parts of the bikini. I hope I have enough fabric for the back of the bikini bottoms, which are red. I have boots like the ones Lady Gaga wears in the video, but in black, I can borrow a wig, and the hairband shouldn't be too hard.

Applique will work better than paint due to the fabric of the bikini, which is slippery feeling-I don't think it will hold paint well, though I can use paint on the headband.

I sincerely hope that some other people turn up in costume.
